The Brief:
This was a personal project for my band, High Master. The music is heavily influenced by 70s hard rock, so I wanted the cover of our debut EP to reflect the look and feel of album art from that era.
Solution:
For the logo, I created custom angular lettering that would look bold on both the cover and merchandise.
In reference to the EP title, Road Man, the cover features a 70s van exploring an unknown planet. A lot of album covers from that era had sci-fi elements, so I wanted to incorporate that feel.
The image is a digital collage made from archival imagery, mainly from the NASA archives and a vintage Ford advertisement. The cover was formatted for streaming services as well as a limited run of cassette tapes.
I’ve been involved in the music scene for years, so music-related design is a natural fit for me. Album artwork, posters, merch and other music projects are all things I’d be happy to do more of.
